The clothing we wear says a lot about ourselves: who we are; what we care about; where we belong. Maybe it’s jeans and a t-shirt to show you are comfortable and it’s your day off, or maybe a Steelers jersey to show that you “bleed black and gold” or maybe it’s the greens jacket that you wear everyday to work at the steel mill. The remaining structures standing at the Carrie Furnace are a permanent reminder of the iron and steel industry that built and shaped the world that we live in. The “Greens – Jacket #1 serves as a reminder, a monument, celebrating the men and women who worked here for almost a century that the furnace was in operation. This jacket is my way to honor these heroes at a scale is fitting with the blast furnaces.
